Serious Metal Division
Serious Metal Division (SMD) is the engineering and design division of the Tala North universe.
Its purpose is to imagine, design and document the vehicles, spacecraft, exploration systems, equipment and technologies that support future projects, missions and stories.
From rugged exploration vehicles and survey systems to advanced robotics, experimental aircraft and deep-space exploration craft, SMD exists to answer a single question:
What should we build next?
The division is responsible for the development of the Sprocket vehicle family, the Prism exploration programme and a growing collection of future machines designed to explore, transport, discover and understand places beyond the limits of today’s technology.
Operating as a creative engineering laboratory, SMD transforms simple ideas into complete vehicle families, systems and concepts. Some begin as sketches. Some become design logs. Some become stories. And occasionally, they become something much larger.
Much of the work is currently in development as engineers, designers and explorers continue to expand the Tala North universe.
In short, we’re busy designing the future.
Or at least the parts of it that look interesting.
The engineers are currently busy designing, testing and occasionally arguing about what should be built next.

The future is still under construction.
If it moves, flies, explores, surveys, transports, hovers, drills, maps, discovers, or accidentally opens a portal, Serious Metal Division probably built it.
Built for places not yet understood.
